First off a big thank you to Paul McWalters at Under ground quilts. He sent out a new Bandit Top Quilt for testing and review. Paul said it was 98% of what the final product would be. All I can tell you is how wonderful this TQ is.
So the specs are as follows:
55"W x 78"L, Full taper, Sewn foot box, with 14.31oz of 800 fill downy goodness ( About a 20 degree rating ). The inner shell is M10 in black, and the outer shell is illume 15 in red bossa nova.
The test site was at Huntington Beach State Park in South Carolina. In the early part of May 2017 ( temps ranged from the low 70s to the mid 50s ). Admittedly the first night was on the warm side, but with the rain storm fast approaching. The temp started to drop. Around 2am is when I finally reached for my quilts. This was when my first impressions of the bandit started to form. Like being wrapped in a warm cloud of happiness as I smiled heading back to sleep. The same can be said for the next two nights. Climbing in the hammock only to push both my quilts off to the side. Then as the temp, and wind would pick up. I would pull them back around me. Now the sewn foot box was a nice addition ( this will be an option on my future quilt orders ). It made controlling the quilt easier.
Final thoughts on the UGQ Bandit top quilt. Build quality is top notch, stitching is beautiful, every baffle is straight, and the down used traps a tremendous amount of body heat. If you want to stay warm in a hammock or tent. Then this is the way to do it.
UGQ is still running a 25%percent off sale.
